The Corporate Social Responsibility actions carried out in Mexico over the past year strengthen our solid commitment to social investment and corporate responsibility, demonstrating our constant effort to contribute to the well-being of the most vulnerable groups in the areas where EOSOL operates.
The COVID-19 pandemic presented a significant challenge to the education system, affecting millions of students and teachers in Mexico and globally. In Durango, a notable decrease in enrolment at pre-school, basic, and upper secondary education levels was observed, according to data from the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP).
As part of our corporate policy, we are committed to supporting the communities near our projects and generating a positive impact on people’s quality of life, especially the most vulnerable groups. Over the past year, we have focused our Social Investment Plan on education as a driver of development and social cohesion, with the aim of achieving numerous Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our attention has been centred on dissemination and complementary education activities to support the return to in-person classes and promote environmental education. Our social and human commitment has been strengthened by the active collaboration of the Board of Directors and our employees. Through Social Impact Assessments of the projects, we have identified the following communities: Las Ánimas II (Ejido 27 de noviembre and Poblado Málaga) and Versalles de las Cuatas (Poblado Dolores Hidalgo and Colonia Cristóbal Colón).
The actions have focused on promoting the social inclusion of communities, raising awareness about climate change and the importance of renewable energies, stimulating interest in technology among children and young people, facilitating the return to in-person classes, and reducing post-pandemic stress. Additionally, we have achieved greater awareness of the risks and dangers associated with trespassing in photovoltaic plants.
In summary, we have benefited a total of 250 primary and secondary school students through various activities, including guided tours of photovoltaic plants for elementary and middle school students, recreational activities, school breakfasts, and donations of sweets and toys. All of this was made possible thanks to the commitment of our human team and a corporate culture based on environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
At EOSOL, our social commitment is an essential part of our identity, and we will continue to work on promoting energy transition and technological innovation, contributing to the well-being of our communities and sustainable progress.
